Force Majeure – FEP items

The company FEP has informed us of a so-called “force majeure”:

“Dear ladies and gentlemen,

As you have no doubt seen in recent media reports, commercial ships are currently being targeted in the Red Sea. As a result, shipping companies are increasingly no longer allowing their ships to sail through the Suez Canal, instead opting for the much longer sea route around Africa. This is causing considerable disruption to the supply chain worldwide. Despite a large number of preventative measures, we are also currently suffering the consequences of these events, as our suppliers and logistics companies are unable to supply us with sufficient materials and raw materials for production on time.

As a result of these unforeseeable events, which cannot be averted even with the utmost care that can reasonably be expected, we indicate that our contractual delivery obligations could be impaired in terms of quantity and deadlines. This could also lead to disruptions in the short term. Our sales and scheduling staff will inform you promptly of any specific disruptions.

You can be sure that we will do everything possible to maintain the contractual delivery obligations or to fulfil them again as quickly as possible. As soon as the disruptions are no longer present, we will inform you of the cancellation of the force majeure.

Best regards”

FEP did not limit this to a set of items. According to our experience over the last few weeks, items originating from China are particularly affected by delays. Please take a lead time of 16 weeks into account.
